RESNET Conference 2011: Our raters will be attending the RESNET conference in Orlando, FL from Feb. 27 – Mar. 2, 2011 and will return with a quantity of new information that will be extremely useful for anyone involved in residential construction in any way. Future training meetings will be arranged as soon as possible to get this important information out to everyone. Please, check back soon for dates and locations!

Specific Training Requirements (as of 3.1.2011):
Builders
Builders must complete the online ENERGY STAR Orientation Training to be eligible to build homes qualified under Version 3. Effective January 1, 2011, new builders must take this training to become partners. Builders who joined prior to 2011 must complete the training by December 31, 2011 to remain ENERGY STAR partners.

Verification Partners
Verification partners, including HERS raters and Field Inspectors, must complete ENERGY STAR Version 3 Rater Training through Energy Rated Homes of Utah. Effective January 1, 2012, new raters must take this training to become partners. Raters who join prior to 2012 must complete the training by December 31, 2011 to remain ENERGY STAR partners.
HVAC Contractors
To be eligible to install HVAC equipment in homes qualified under Version 3, HVAC contractors must complete ENERGY STAR Version 3 Training and be credentialed through an EPA–recognized industry organization.
New ENERGY STAR® Requirements for CAP & ASHP
Upcoming New ENERGY STAR® Requirements forCentral Air Conditioners and Air Source Heat Pumps
On January 1, 2009, new ENERGY STAR® requirements for central air conditioners (CAC) and air source heat pumps (ASHP) will go into effect. The new requirements for equipment to earn the ENERGY STAR® label are as follows:
Equipment manufactured before January 1 is still eligible to earn the ENERGY STAR® based on the old performance levels.

* Builders using a HERS Rating to qualify their homes are only affected by the change if they are using ENERGY STAR® qualified CAC or ASHP equipment to meet the Performance Path requirement for equipping the home with at least one ENERGY STAR® qualified product category.
